| dc.description.abstract | Bu araştırmanın amacı, ilköğretim 5. sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler dersinde Tahmin Et Gözle Açıkla (TGA) uygulamalarının öğrencilerin akademik başarılarına, derse karşı tutumlarına, bilgilerin kalıcılığa etkisini incelemek ve öğrencilerin TGA uygulamalarına ve sürece ilişkin görüşlerini belirlemektir. Karma modelde (mixed-method) ve yarı deneysel desende yürütülen bu araştırmada, nicel verilerin nitel verilerle birlikte kullanıldığı açıklayıcı ardışık desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen nicel verilerin analiz edilmesinde SPSS 20,0 paket programı; nitel verilerin analizinde ise nitel veri analizlerinde çoklukla kullanılan NVivo 10 nitel veri analizi programımı kullanılmıştır. TGA'ya dayalı etkinliklerin, Sosyal Bilgiler dersi beşinci sınıf konularında akademik başarıyı arttırmada, derse karşı tutumu geliştirmede ve kalıcılığı sağlamada etkili olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmanın nitel sonuçlarına göre, TGA uygulamalarının öğrencilerin yaparak yaşayarak öğrenmesine olanak veren, ayrıca bilgiyi üretmek için öğrencileri teşvik eden, etkili ve öğrenci merkezli bir uygulama olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. TGA tabanlı etkinliklerin değişik kavramları öğrencilerin zihinlerinde yapılandırmalarını sağlayarak anlamlı öğrenmeler gerçekleştirmelerine olanak verdiği ve öğrencilerin derse yönelik motivasyonunu artırdığı görülmüştür. Anahtar Kelimeler: Tahmin Et–Gözle–Açıkla, Sosyal Bilgiler, Yapılandırmacılık, Tutum, Başarı The aim of this research is to examine the effects of the Predict-Observation-Explain (POE) method on the academic achievement of students, attitudes towards the lesson, persistence of information in the 5th grade Social Studies lesson and to determine their opinions on the activities and process based on POE method.In the mixed-method and semi-experimental design, a explanatory sequential pattern was used in which quantitative data were used together with qualitative data. In the analysis of the quantitative data obtained in the study, SPSS 20.0 package program; In the analysis of qualitative data, Nvivo 10 qualitative data analysis program which is frequently used in qualitative data analysis was used. According to the results of the research, it has been determined that the activities based on the POE method developed on the basis of the Social Studies lesson are effective in enhancing academic success, improving attitudes towards the lesson and maintaining permanence in the fifth grade subjects of the Social Studies lesson. According to the qualitative results of the research, it is concluded that POE method is an effective and student-centered method which enables learners to learn by living and also encourages students to produce knowledge. It was seen that the activities based on the POE method enabled students to realize meaningful learning by providing different concepts in the minds of the students by providing them with concrete examples and increasing motivation of the students.
