Acquired epidermoid cyst in the lower lip: Case report
Özet
Epidermoid cysts of traumatic origin are typically reported on the palms, fingers and soles. Only a small number of cases have been described in oral and perioral soft tissues. A 22-year old male patient presented with a lower lip mass enlarging for 1 year. On physical examination, a soft, non-tender, fluctuant, round submucosal swelling in the right lower lip region was palpated. Surgical excision was performed via intraoral approach as cytologic examination was benign. Histopathological evaluation was consistent with epidermoid cyst. After 3 months of the operation cyst recurred on extraoral skin surface. An uncommon case of submucosal epidermoid cyst in the lower lip which thought to be originated from a previously healed traumatic skin surface is described. Copyright © 2011 by Türkiye Klinikleri.
