Peygamber'in Mekke döneminde tebliğ etmeye çalıştığı İslâm'ın, Mekke ileri gelenleri tarafından kabul görmemesi nedeniyle Müslümanlara yapılan baskı ve şiddet hareketlerinden sonra Allah Rasûlü, inanaların daha rahat yaşayabilecekleri ve İslâmı daha geniş kitlelere ulaştırabilecekleri yurt arama çalışmalarına başladı. Rasûlüllah'ın bu çağrısına Medine cevap verince Mus'ab b. Umeyr, Hz. Peygamber tarafından ilk tebliğci olarak buraya gönderildi. Mus'ab b. Umeyr'in burada yüğrüttüğü irşad ve tebliğ faaliyetleri sayasinde Medine'nin önemli sîmaları İslâm'la tanıştı. Bunlardan biri de Üseyd b. Hudayr'dır. Cahiliyye döneminde okuma yazma bilen ve kabilesinin liderlerinden olan, taşıdığı vasıflar nedeniyle "el-Kâmil" diye adlandırılan, İslâmiyet'le şereflendikten sonra kabilesinin ve Müslümanların akıl önderlerinden biri olan Üseyd İslâm'la birlikte insanlara dini öğreten bir muallim görevini de üstlendi. Yeni dini özümseyen Üseyd, İslâm'ın yayılmasına çalışan ensârın önemli şahsiyetlerinden biri haline geldi. Daima Hz. Peygamber'in yanında bulunarak onu korumaya çalışan Üseyd, Uhud Savaşı'nda Müslümanlar bozguna uğrayıp dağıldıkları esnada Allah Rasûlü'nü birçok yara almasına rağmen canı pahasına da olsa koruyan az sayıda sahabîden biriydi. Hendek Savaşı'nda hendeği koruyan, Mekke'nin fethinde kabilesinin sancağını taşıyan, Huneyn Savaşı'nda dağılan İslâm ordusunun tekrar Hz. Peygamber'in etrafında toplanıp zafer elde edilmesinde etkili olan, İlk halifenin seçilmesinde önemli rol oynayan ve Hz. Peygamber'in birçok duasına mazhar olan Üseyd, Hz. Ömer döneminde vefat etti. At the period of Mecca, the respectable men of Mecca subjected the Muslims to violence and oppression since they did not embrace Islam which the prophet Muhammad tried to proclaim. After that, Muhammad, the prophet of Allah, started to search for a homeland where his followers could live more peacefully and invite larger masses to Islam. Upon the favorable response by Medina, Mus'ab b. Umeyr was sent to Medina as the first messenger by Muhammad. Thanks to the activities Musab carried out to show people the true path and invite them to Islam, the prominent figures of Medina met Islam. One of them was Useyd b. Hudayr. As a man who could read and write and one of the leaders of his tribe, acquired the nickname "el-Kamil" meaning "dignified" due to his upright character and became one of the opinion leaders of his tribe and the Muslims after he was honored with Islam, Useyd also undertook the mission of teaching the Islamic messages to people. Useyd , who internalized the new religion, came to be one of the important figures among the Ansar. He always supported Muhammad and tried to protect him. More importantly, when the Muslims were defeated and dispersed during the Battle of Uhud, he was among those few believers that guarded Muhammad at the cost of their lives although they were badly wounded. It was him who protected the trench in the Battle of The Trench, carried the flag of his tribe during the Conquest of Mecca, became very influential in gathering the Muslim army together again under the leadership of the Prophet and thus gaining a victory, played an important role in electing the first caliph and was honoured with lots of prayers by Muhammad.
