Sağlık Hizmetleri Meslek Yüksekokulunda Okuyan Öğrencilerin Ölüm Kaygısı Düzeyleri
Abstract
Amaç: Bu araştırmada Sağlık Hizmetleri Meslek Yüksek Okulunda (SHMYO) okuyan öğrencilerin ölüm kaygı düzeylerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu araştırma 2014-2015 eğitimöğretim yılında sağlık hizmetleri meslek yüksekokulunda okuyan öğrencilerin ölüm kaygı düzeylerini belirlemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır. Evrenden örneklem seçimine gidilmemiştir. Verilerin toplanmasında kişisel bilgi formu ve Thorson ve Powell ölüm kaygısı ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde yüzdelik dağılımlar, ortalama, Kruskal Wallis varyans analizi, Mann Whitney U testi, One- Way ANOVA ve t testi kullanılmıştır. In this study, it was aimed to determine death anxiety levels among the students studying at a Vocational School of Health Services. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted descriptively with the aim of determining death anxiety levels among the students of a vocational school of health services in 2014-2015 academic year. A sampling from the target population was not carried out. The personal information form and Thorson and Powell Death Anxiety Scale were used to collect data. In the analysis of the data, percentage distributions, mean, Kruskal Wallis variance analysis, Mann-Whitney U test, One Way ANOVA and t-test were used. Findings: When the answers that students have given to the question "if you knew you were about to die, what would you feel and what would you like to do?" were examined, it was seen that 51.0% of the students stated that they would spend time with their family and loved ones, 32.1% said that they would spend time spiritually, 11.1% expressed that they would become introverted, and 5.8% stated that they would recall their old days. When the gender and death anxiety scale (DAS) scores were compared, it was found that the mean score of males (55.43 ± 14.58) is significantly higher than that of females (p<0.05). When the departments were considered, it was seen that the highest mean score (52.27±15.77) on DAS belongs to the department of elderly care and the difference among the groups is significant (p<0.05). Conclusion: In the study, it was determined that the students have a lot of anxiety about death and those who have lived experience related to death and who are older have a higher level of anxiety.
