dc.description.abstract | This study aims to analyze the competitive capacity of Turkey in the Georgian market and focuses on the effects of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed between the two countries on competitive capacity. In the analysis, the Revealed Comparative Advantages Index (RCA) was calculated using data from the Standard International Trade Classification (SITC-3). Analysis results show that while Turkey had a competitive advantage in all product groups except those numbered 2 and 3 in the period before FTA, this advantage could not been kept after FTA. According to the results, Turkey has an advantage in the product groups numbered 1, 5, 6 and 7 while it has a disadvantage in the product groups numbered 0, 2, 3, 4, 8 and 9 in the Georgian market. It is also seen that the trade between these two countries became specialized after FTA. In the detailed analysis, SITC-3 step 2 data were used and the RCA index values of a total of 66 product groups between the two countries were calculated. Accordingly, it was determined that Turkey has a comparative advantage in 43 product classes and does not have a comparative advantage in 23 product groups against Georgia. | en_US |
