The legacy of the school of scholastic theology that was established by Abū Manṣūr al-Māturīdī (d. 333/944) seems to have been attracting the long due interest of scholars in recent decades. This includes studying the thinking of key Māturīdī figures and editing their neglected works. In the book under review, Ayedh S. Aldosari takes on such a task and presents to readers a critical edition of Imam ʿUmar al-Khabbāzī’s (d. 691/1292) Kitāb al-Hādī, with a brief introduction on the historical development of the school up to his time and the source analysis of the text.
