Ekonomik Krizlerin Sosyal Etkileri: Türkiye Üzerine Bir Uygulama (1980-2016)
Abstract
In this study, social effects of economic crises faced in Turkish economy in the period of 1980-2016 were analyzed in the scope of divorce, marriage and suicide within the instant and delayed periods. The result of the analysis done using the Least Squares Method revealed that economic crises have a statistically significant effect on the number of divorce by the period of t. According to the results, while economic crises increased the number of divorce, it did not affect the number of marriages and suicide. Nevertheless, it was observed that the effect of an economic crisis that occurred 3 years ago has been increasing for all three variables in the current period. According to the findings, the number of divorce increases with the effect of crises both in the period of t and after crises, periods and the number of marriage increases with delay as a result of the delay of marriage decisions of individuals. In this context, it can be argued that economic crises are a negative social stimuli. Crises have importance especially because they cause families, the building block of the society, to be shaken and drive people suicide. In this respect, it is necessary to increase policy measures to reduce negative social consequences which are frequently observed during crisis periods. Thus, the ability to reduce the devastating effects of crises on individuals in order to strengthen the dynamics of family and life depends on the effectiveness of economic policies.
