Abstract
To the Editor: The nomenclature for steatotic liver disease has been a topic of debate since 2020. The conventional expression, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), was introduced in 1980 to describe the occurrence of steatosis in the absence of other hepatic diseases. However, in recent years, there has been a growing movement to phase out and retire this term.
