Sınıf öğretmeni adaylarının Mol kavramındaki işlem becerilerinin belirlenmesi

Abstract

Ülkemizde, temeli matematik uygulamalarına dayanan fen konularında öğrencilerin işlem becerilerini doğru bir şekilde kullanamamaları, fen eğitiminin sorunlarından biri olarak görülmektedir. Çalışmanın amacı, sınıf öğretmeni adaylarının mol kavramı ile ilgili işlem becerilerini tespit etmektir. Çalışmanın örneklemi, 2007-2008 eğitim öğretim yılında Rize Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesinde okuyan 66 birinci sınıf öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Çalışmada öğrencilere öncelikle 6 açık uçlu sorudan oluşan bir başarı testi ve mülakat uygulanmıştır. Başarı testinden elde edilen veriler frekans ve yüzde olarak tablo halinde verilmiştir. Öğrencilerle yapılan mülakatlar ise, başarı testinden elde edilen bulguları destekler nitelikte betimsel olarak analiz edilmiştir. Verilerin analizinden, matematik bilgi eksikliğinden kaynaklanan yanlış cevap sayısının, kimya bilgi eksikliğinden kaynaklanan yanlış cevap sayısına oranla daha fazla olduğu görülmektedir. Bu matematiksel hatalar, öğrencilerin birimlerin çevrimi, orantı kurma, üslü sayılar ve ondalık kesirler konusunda problem yaşamalarından kaynaklanmaktadır. Öneri olarak, öğretim programında matematik ve fen derslerinde birbiriyle ilişkili konuların paralelliği göz önüne alınmalıdır. Eğitim fakültelerinde matematik derslerinde fen ve teknolojiyle ilişkili örnekler seçilebilir.

Students don't use correctly procedural abilities at science subjects based on mathematical practices seems as one of the basic problems of science education in our country. The purpose of this study is to determine the elementary pre-service teachers' procedural abilities about to the mole concept. The study was conducted on 66 junior elementary pre-service teachers training at the Faculty of Education in Rize University in 2007-2008 academic year. At the study, an achievement test including 6 open-ended questions and interview were applied to students. The collected data from achievement test were presented at frequency and percentage tables. Interviews with students were analyzed descriptively in order to support the findings of achievement test. When the data were analyzed, it was seen that the number of wrong answers due to lack of mathematical knowledge were more than their chemical knowledges'. These mathematical errors were aroused from students' problems related to the subject of conversion of units, proportion, exponentiel numbers and decimals. As suggestion, the associated issues at mathematics and science courses should be parallelly considered in the curriculum. The examples related science and technology can be selected in mathematics courses at faculty of education.
